Guilherme Ribeiro (Costa da Caparica) made the second tripe consecutive in the U-12 and U-14 categories and has already secured the renewal of his title of U-14 CSA champion, when there is only one stage left for the conclusion of the circuit.

This weekend's race was organized by the Playsurf surf school and the Portimão Marina Yacht Club, with the support of the Portuguese Surf Federation.

The 3rd Stage CSA 2014 took place under adverse weather conditions, marked mainly by wind Onshore very intense, particularly on the first day, Saturday, with varying strength between 25 and 30 club (50 to 70 km/h). The sea was small and untidy, with multiple peaks of half a meter, in a scenario that placed great difficulties for the 62 athletes who competed in the U-12, U-14, U-16, Women, Open and Longboard categories.

Former WCT Marlon Lipke (Lagos), announced by the organization and staggered in the Open heats, did not appear in the race. With 24 athletes in the Open, this category queen dominated the competitive journey yesterday, Saturday, the day the competitions in the Longboard, Under-16 and Open categories were concluded.

Miguel Mouzinho swept the Open category, by winning all the heats he has played since the round of XNUMX. The big surprise in this category was the early elimination, right in the round of XNUMX, from the Estrela location Paulo Almeida.

In the Open final, Miguel Mouzinho kept his consistency and won in conditions that he himself considered “difficult”. Four consecutive winners of the Algarve Surf Circuit until 2012, Miguel Mouzinho assumed the leadership of the ranking Open CSA 2014, with victory in this stage and two third places in the first two stages.

2013 CSA champion Francisco Canelas (Portimão) did not maintain the level of his good performance in the semi-final and ended yesterday's Open final in third, behind Tomás Alcobia (Lagos).

Guilherme Ribeiro in the sub-12 final

Fourth place was 16-year-old Jakob Lilienweiss (Tavira), who, in April, will represent the Germany Under-18 team at the Junior Surf World Cup in Ecuador.

Also on Saturday, Manuel Mestre (Faro) won the direct Longboard final disputed by five athletes, including the winner of the two previous stages in this category, Luís Esteves, as he is recovering from a foot injury.

On Sunday, the U-12, Women and U-14 finals were played, with less rain and strong wind, but a little less intense. Yolanda Sequeira-Hopkins (Quarteira) won for the second consecutive time in Women and reinforced her candidacy for the renewal of the circuit champion title.

The hero of the day was the smallGuilherme Ribeiro, 11 years old, who categorically won the finals in the U-12 and U-14 categories, repeating the tripe won in the 2nd Stage, in Quarteira-Vilamoura.

The young athlete from Costa de Caparica is CSA 2013 U-12 and U-14 champion. In this year's circuit he won all the stages disputed in the two categories: 3 in Sub-14 and 2 in Sub-12 (this category was not disputed in the 1st Stage because the sea in Faro was too strong).

The CSA 2014 consists of 4 stages and the three best results count towards the ranking Final. With three wins at U-14, Guilherme Ribeiro has already secured the title of champion of the circuit in this category.

The 3rd Stage CSA 2013 had the support of the Municipality of Portimão, Parish Council of Portimão. Bruno Freitas, from Playsurf, revealed that the stage could be scheduled on the weekend before the National Circuit of Hopes, on the 6th and 7th of September, at Praia do Amado.
