The Municipality of Faro it is once again associated with «Earth Hour» and will switch off the lights of Arco da Vila between 20:30 pm and 21:30 pm this Saturday. With this act, the autarchy symbolically joins the initiative that the World Wildlife Fund – WWF promotes worldwide.

"Earth Hour" brings together hundreds of millions of people around the world, "whatever their race, religion, culture and geographic situation", who adhere to this action in defense of the environment, "a unique moment of contemplation of the planet where, for the eighth consecutive year, the world is in darkness».

Em Faro, the “honor” of turning off the switch will fall to the president of the Chamber Rogério Bacalhau. And everyone is invited to join, simply turning off the lights at home and, by the way, all the appliances that are possible, during that hour.

For the eighth consecutive year, the world is in the dark in support of an initiative that started in Sydney in 2007 and is now the world's largest environmental action event. “Earth Hour” 2013 was held in 154 countries and territories on all continents.
