Academic spirit invades city of Faro with Fartuna

The XVI Fartuna, Festival of Academic Tunas of the City of Faro, organized by Versus Tuna – Tuna Académica of the University of Algarve, will take place on the 4th and 5th of April, in the city of Faro.

FARTUNA annually brings the Faro some of the best academic tunas nationwide, with the aim of providing the public with two nights of music, spectacle and academic spirit.

On April 4th, at 22 pm, as is traditional, the steps of Igreja do Carmo, in Largo do Carmo, receive the opening Serenade of the festival.

On Saturday, the 5th, at 14:30 pm, the traditional Passa-Calles will take place through the main arteries of Baixa de Faro, where the tunas will liven up the traditional trade area. At night, at 21 pm, Teatro das Figuras will stage the highlight of the event, where each tuna will show its best (instrumentals, tambourine choreographies and standards and original repertoires).

The tunas in the competition are TAFDUP (Academic Tuna of the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto), TAIPCA (Academic Tuna of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave), AFONSINA (Engineering Tuna of the University of Minho) and TAL (Académica Tuna of Lisbon ). Feminis Ferventis and TUALLE will act as guests.

Tickets for the XVI FARTUNA can be purchased at the Teatro Municipal de Faro or with the event organization (prices between €4,00 and €6,00).
