The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) will highlight the Algarve's gastronomy and wines in the next edition of the Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa, which runs from 12 to 16 March, at FIL, in Lisbon. Cooking demonstrations by chefs guests and wine tastings will be used to whet the appetite of those visiting the Algarve Tourism stand, in what is the largest fair in the sector to take place in Portugal.

This is a bet of this entity in the dissemination of the Mediterranean diet made in the region, which was recently classified as Intangible Heritage of Humanity, with Tavira being the representative community of Portugal.

To Lisbon, in addition to good food, RTA will take the news for 2014, to be presented on the 13th, a Thursday. Among them is the renovation from the Algarve promotional website, the availability of a multilingual tool for tablets ou smartphones which will allow the user to dynamically access RTA publications, the reissue of the «Algarve Wine Guide» with more producers and wines and a campaign to the page on Facebook, in which the internet user will become a secret spreader or guardian of the Algarve.

In the first three days of the fair, the protagonists are bread and olive oil, wines and sweets and nuts. They will integrate the confections previously prepared by the chefs Louis Anjos (Suites Alba Resort), Tiago Bonito (Vilalara Thalassa Resort) and José Pinheiro (Eira do Mel), who will explain to the public the richness of these and other products that make up the diet.

«And because these demonstrations will leave people's mouths watering, three daily tastings are planned (only on the first days of the fair, exclusive to professionals in the sector) of canapés created from the dishes that the chefs presented. To compose the palate, on Thursday (13) there will also be a tasting of Algarve wines, moments after the launch of the Wine Route, in partnership with the Algarve Wine Commission», revealed the RTA.

Similar to what happened in 2013, all municipalities in the region will be gathered at the stand to jointly promote the destination. And also the fair «Algarve Invites» will be taking place simultaneously in the Algarve space during the BTL, with 20 trade exhibitors and the objective of «making direct sales of holiday packages at special prices that can reach 40% off» .

«From a commercial perspective, our participation in BTL is essential to make holidays in the region even more desirable for the Portuguese. We look forward to the visit of thousands of people to the Algarve stand, which in its 441 square meters will represent the most important tourist destination in the country», according to the president of RTA Desidério Silva.
