Francisco Ferreira is the guest of another conference at the Escola Internacional do Algarve

«The Challenge of Environmental Education for a Sustainable Future» is the theme of the 4th Pedagogical Conference of Escola Internacional do Algarve this academic year 2013/2014.

The session will take place at the Convento de São José, in Lagoa, on the 13th of February, from 21 pm, with the presence of Francisco Ferreira, a well-known television and radio figure in programs related to the environment. Admission is free.

Francisco Ferreira was president of Quercus from 1996 to 2001 and vice president between 2007 and 2011.

Coordinates and presents two daily programs on Portuguese Radio and Television on aspects related to the Environment: «Minuto Verde» (RTP) and «1 Minuto pela Terra» (Antena 1).

At Quercus, he coordinates the areas of climate change and energy. He is a member of the National Water Council and was a member of the National Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development.

The lecturer invited by the Escola Internacional do Algarve has a degree in Environmental Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a master's degree in the United States of America and completed his PhD in 1998.

Francisco Ferreira is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

At a time when climate issues are the order of the day, Francisco Ferreira comes to Lagoa, at the invitation of the Escola Internacional do Algarve, to raise a reflection on the advantages of strengthening the ecological awareness of children through school education.

During the current academic year, the Escola Internacional do Algarve will continue to hold educational conferences in several Algarve cities. Each conference will have its own guest to address a specific topic related to child and adolescent development.

All conferences will take place in public places and have their doors open to local communities.
