The «Mercadinho da Filhó e Empanadilha» will be one of the highlights of the «Natal na Aldeia», which runs until the 6th of January in Odeleite (Castro Marim).
This is an initiative of the Associação Odiana, the Social Association of the Parish of Odeleite, the promoter Associação Terras do Baixo Guadiana, with the support of the Castro Marim City Council and the local Parish Council.
"Natal na Aldeia", in Odeleite, opened its doors yesterday, on December 16, with the opening of the crib that, in recent weeks, has been built by the village community that, using traditional materials, without forgetting the moss and holly, it adds beauty and wisdom to the recreation of the birth of the baby Jesus.
One of the delights of "Christmas in the Village" is the "Mercadinho da Filhó e Empanadilha" which takes place on the weekend, from December 21st to 22nd, from 13 pm to 18 pm, where visitors can buy typical sweets from Baixo Guadiana, the traditional sweets of the season at Casa de Odeleite, but also taking part in a bread workshop, all very well sprinkled with seasonal songs, music and entertainment.
It is also worth mentioning the organization of a fair of local products, arts and crafts demonstration, exhibition of UTL works and an exhibition of nature photographs.
The “Natal na Aldeia” initiative aims to promote the territory of Baixo Guadiana and the traditional activities of the village of Odeleite, which has an enormous tourist potential, based on the enhancement of endogenous resources and on attracting new visitors.
