The Barril Project has already arrived in Spain, through Radio "Onda Cero". The media from the neighboring country interviewed the general director of the Pedras d'el Rei António Almeida Pires tourist development, to publicize this sustainable development initiative.

With this media exposure in Spain, the promoters of the project, closely linked to tourism, hope to «attract the Spanish market, so important for the region of Tavira».

Senior and accessible tourism, the dissemination and enhancement of the Mediterranean Diet and the history and local culture linked to tuna and octopus fishing and agricultural activities are the main pillars of the initiative.

«This radio joined the project due to the differentiating character of the initiatives developed by young interns (all from different areas of training), its objective is to allow the growth of the local and regional economy, as well as to mitigate seasonality, one of the major threats in the sector. Algarve tourism», illustrated the Barril Project, in a press release.

«In this interview, emphasis was placed on creating tourist opportunities that make the region attractive and competitive, throughout the year, so that this model of local intervention can be replicated throughout the Algarve», concluded.
