On October 12, Portimão will host the IX Grand Chapter of the Confraternity of the Algarve's Gastronomers, which will include the III Stª Maria de Ossónoba Awards Gala and will bring together around two hundred Portuguese, Italian and Spanish confreres in the city.

Initially, the IX Grand Chapter will take place at the Igreja Matriz in Portimão, in a ceremony scheduled for 11:45 am and will bring together about 30 confraternities from all over the country, where effective confreres of merit and honor will be enthroned, among them the Princess Isabella de Collato y Croy (Italy), Maria de la Paz del Moral, Mayor of Valpeñas de Jaen (Andalusia), President of the Coordination and Development Commission of the Algarve Region, David Santos, President of the Ordem del Sabadiego de Noroña (Asturias), Miguel Funte, and the vice-president of the European Council of Confraternities, Alessandro Salarolo (Italy).

In the evening, from 20 pm, the III Stª Maria de Ossónoba Awards Gala will take place at the Hotel Algarve Casino in Praia da Rocha, a biennial initiative that distinguishes the following categories: Agri-food product; Traditional Algarve cuisine cook; National chef; Chef from the Algarve region; Algarve wine; National Wine Company; Algarve restaurant; National restaurant; Fellowships; Dedication to Gastronomy; and Confradic Personality. The winners of each category will be awarded a trophy representing the distinction achieved and awarded a diploma.

The Confraria dos Gastronomos do Algarve is a member of CEUCO – European Council of Confraternity, of the Portuguese Federation of Gastronomic Confraternity, and also of the Association of Confraternity of Rota de Cister, counting on this event with the support of the Municipality of Portimão.
