The Minister of Health will be in Castro Marim this Friday to inaugurate the Long-Term Integrated Continued Care and Maintenance Unit at Azinhal, a health unit with 30 beds that motivated a global investment of around 2,4 million euros. The ceremony is scheduled for 15 hours.

This is the latest unit to join the Integrated Continued Care Network in the Algarve Region and will be managed by the Social Welfare Association of the Parish of Azinhal (ABESFA). The work was co-financed by the Modelar I Program, with the Ministry of Health contributing with 750 thousand euros, for the components «buildings and technical installations» and «equipment».

«By the end of this year, two more Units, built under the Modeling II Program, located in Estoi are expected to come into operation (Faro) and Aljezur, the first of which is in the phase of acquiring equipment and obtaining the necessary licenses and the second in an advanced stage of construction», revealed the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve.

The presence of the member of Government at the inauguration of the unit motivated a public position taken by the PS deputies elected by the Algarve, who accuse the Government of wanting to close two health units in the municipality of Castro Marim, one of them in Azinhal, namely the local Health Extension.
