A 45-year-old man who had a 16-foot plantation cannabis at Fojo, in the municipality of Monchique, he was arrested at the end of the morning of yesterday, the 4th, indicted for the crime of drug trafficking, by soldiers from the GNR post in that mountain town.
The plantation was detected by the GNR during a forest patrol action, which is, according to the authorities, "usually intensified during the summer season".
Following subsequent steps, the GNR found that the plantation of cannabis it was the responsibility of the man now arrested, who lived nearby.
At the site, according to a press release from the GNR, "16 adult plants (about 1,2 m high) were seized, weighing approximately 11 kilos", although they were still green plants.
This is the second arrest of its kind carried out in the Monchique area over the past week, as already in On August 27, two men, father and son, were arrested. for the same crime.
