The Municipality of Lagos approved, at its public meeting on 21 August, the support to be granted to sports associations for the 2013/2014 season.

After an analysis carried out by the Youth and Sports Service technicians, the positive balance in relation to the support provided by the municipality to the municipality's clubs in the 2012/2013 season was known, in the context of support to the Sports Association, which, despite the limitations legal and financial, proved essential for the development of their sporting activity, essentially at the level of training and official competition.

The local authority recalls that in a preparatory meeting held with clubs and sports associations, the Municipal Executive and the clubs present found that, despite the difficulties, all clubs in Lagos maintained their competitive performance, having achieved this at the expense of better organizational and other support at the level of athletes, members, families and local companies.

It was also found that the support in facilities and transport by the municipality corresponded to the needs, with no record of special failures.

Thus, and in order to continue the work carried out by the clubs in the past season, a chamber meeting approved the maintenance of support included in the “Guidelines for Supporting Sports Associations”, as in the previous year.

These supports are valid for the 2013/2014 sporting season, between August 01, 2013 and July 31, 2014.

In the legal impossibility of granting direct financial support, the Municipality guarantees all sports clubs, depending on their needs and municipal availability, sports facilities for training, competition and other associative and cultural actions, as well as transportation to competitions, on line than what was practiced in the previous sporting season.

The Executive notes “with pleasure that, despite the financial constraints that affect everyone, the clubs and sports associations in Lagos maintain a high-quality work rate and performance level, which is evident in the excellent sporting results achieved once again, fruit of the persistent and dedicated work of athletes, coaches and managers, generally supported by the families and sponsoring companies, which clearly demonstrate the lacobrigense intention expressed in the PEDDL (Lagos Strategic Plan for Sport Development) to pursue the goals of more practitioners, better results, better facilities and greater organization of all sports agents, in favor of a healthier and more cohesive community».
