Albufeira (+44%) and Portimão (+42%) are the Portuguese locations with the biggest increase in the average cost of a hotel night compared to last month, indicates the Trivago Hotel Price Index, the study of price variation from the world's largest hotel search engine.

These two cities in the Algarve are followed by Monte Gordo (35%), Quarteira (34%) and Vilamoura (33%). Lagos (30%), Tavira and Faro (both with 29%) inflation follow the trend, as well as Cascais (15%), in the Lisbon area, and Figueira da Foz (27%), further to the center.

Despite the increases compared to June, hotels in the Algarve maintain prices below those charged in the same month last year, according to the Trivago index. In Albufeira, this difference between the two years is 11% less in Albufeira and 8% less in Portimão.

With the exception of Lisbon, which suffers a sharp drop (-28%), it is mainly more inland destinations, such as Castelo Branco (-7%) or Beja (-2%), which see their prices lower, according to the HPI from Trivago. After a month in which Lisbon hotels registered record inflation in Europe, hotel prices in the Portuguese capital fell in July. Porto (-6%) also follows those cities in hotel reductions.

In the rest of Europe, most countries continue to fall, especially Turkey (-18%) and colder destinations such as Norway or Finland (both with a drop of 17%).

Greece, on the other hand, makes use of its characteristics that are especially appealing to holidaymakers and registers a very strong growth (29%).
