The Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT), from Portimão, promotes the Free Course on «Introduction to Genealogy: The Case of the Algarve», which will be taught by the researcher Nuno Campos Inacio.
The course, which starts this Monday, July 22, aims to promote initial training in the study of genealogy and acquisition of basic knowledge for the preparation of genealogy studies.
Origin and evolution of genealogy as an instrumental science, Concept, terminology and utility, Genealogy in History, Genealogical Entities and Associations, Genealogical sources, genealogical documents, Parish, Notary, Judicial and Family Archives, National and Regional/District Archives, Legislation related to genealogy are some of the syllabus of the Free Course.
Participants will also hear about Genealogical research methods, Methods for drawing up family trees, Numerical ordering system for genealogical data, Calculation of degrees of kinship, The genealogy and its relationship with the nobility and family lines, Relationship between lineage and surname, Comparison with the systems of other countries, Legislation on the change of name and surnames, Blood cleansing processes as evidentiary documents in genealogy, Onomastics and its evolution and also Computer systems as tools to support genealogy.
The course hours will be from the 22nd to the 26th of July, from 18pm to 22pm.
