The population of Fuseta will honor Nossa Senhora do Carmo, the patron saint of the fishing village of the municipality of Olhão, with the festivities dedicated to her, which start on Saturday and last until the 22nd of July. The initiatives will focus on the Igreja Matriz and the Zona Ribeirinha da Fuseta.
This is the big annual festival in this location and usually attracts thousands of visitors. «The pilgrimage of arrival, departure and thanks to Nossa Senhora do Livramento, in a procession by sea, are high moments of the celebrations, in which the vessels adorned at sea participate, and by land the streets of the parish are covered», described the Chamber of Olhão.
The highlights of the party organized by the Parish, Parish Council and Associação Cultural Fusetense, take place on the 16th, 20th, 21st and 22nd, but there will be a party every day, with a bazaar and a bar open.
On the first day, the 43rd International Floral Games of Nossa Senhora do Carmo are held, starting at 15 pm, in the multipurpose room of the Parish Council, «followed by a visit to the House Museum of Professor Maria José Fraqueza». On the 15th, at 23:30 pm, there is a night of fado, at Ador da Igreja, with Sara Gonçalves.
The next day, a Tuesday, one of the highlights of the party takes place. «After the Eucharist at 21 pm, there is a traditional bonfire in honor of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, with the burning of the boat and Songs to Our Lady (00:22, in the Churchyard). At 00:22 pm Tuna 30 Gerações (students from the Fuseta and Moncarapacho Music School) performs”, according to the municipality.
The party continues with theater, on the 17th, with the presentation of the play «A Romaria a Nossa Senhora do Livramento», written by Maria José Fraqueza and with music by the students of the Associação Cultural Fusetense Music School, on the 18th.
«July 20th (Saturday) is full of celebration that begins at 13:40 pm with the departure of the image of Nossa Senhora do Livramento from its chapel, in a procession across the sea, towards the Fuseta quay, at 14 pm the Procession of the Igreja da Fuseta with Nossa Senhora do Carmo towards the pier for the reception of Nossa Senhora do Livramento, at 16 pm the Eucharist is held in the Churchyard and at 18 pm the celebration of the Rosary, also in the Churchyard. At 21:30 pm there will be a ball with the Blue Star (Zona Ribeirinha) and at 23:30 pm the Tayti will perform”, announced the municipality.
«On Sunday, July 21, at 17 pm, the Festive Eucharist in Honor of Nossa Senhora do Carmo is held, followed by a procession through the streets of the parish at 18 pm with the images of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Nossa Senhora do Livramento and Saint Peter. At night there is a ball (21:30 pm) with Luís Filipe (Zona Ribeirinha) and at 23:XNUMX pm the party continues with a show by Al-Mouraria», added the Chamber of Olhão.
The festival ends with a mass “in suffrage for the fishermen who died at sea, at 16 pm, followed by a procession by sea at 17 pm, which will take the image of Nossa Senhora do Livramento to its chapel”.
