José Pedro Caçorino remains at the head of the list, but what began as a CDS/PP candidacy for the Portimão Chamber has now evolved into a coalition that, to the Sul Informação he found that he is part of the Movimento Partido da Terra (MPT), the Popular Monarchic Party (PPM) and, above all, many independents or people linked to other parties.

The list for the City Council, for example, will be headed by José Pedro Caçorino, but will include figures such as Antonieta Guerreiro (former PSD deputy and lately closely linked to the Institute of Portuguese Democracy – IDP), or independents Ricardo Palet and João Pires, the latter linked to the Associação Cívica Portimão Semper.

O Sul Informação knows that Antonieta Guerreiro will be No. 2 on Caçorino's list.

For the Parish Council of Portimão, although previously being presented Vasco Carapucinha, will advance Nuno Campos Inácio, justice official, genealogy researcher and former PSD militant. Carapucinha should now be on the list for the City Council.

Fernando Gião, a historical member of the Algarve CDS, remains the head of the list for the Municipal Assembly.

The coalition «Servir Portimão» will be presented on Saturday, July 13th, at 21 pm, at Café Concerto at Teatro Municipal de Portimão (Tempo).

The event will be attended by architect Gonçalo Ribeiro Teles, judge Rui Rangel and professor Mendo Castro Henriques, representatives of the IDP (Institute of Portuguese Democracy).

The coalition thus incorporates «independents with the “will” to exercise citizenship. The support of the IDP turns out to be the institutional sign of support for citizenship movements», explained José Pedro Caçorino to Sul Informação.

For his part, João Pires, on his Facebook page, commented: «in a truly inclusive gesture, full of sensitivity to the feeling of the Portimonense community, José Pedro welcomes and generates consensus that would be very difficult to achieve without his good sense and without the strength of their convictions».

And that was how Caçorino “made the decision to open the candidacy, which came from the party where he is a militant, to other political forces and to civil society as a whole”.
