Poet Joaquim Pessoa will be tomorrow, Saturday, at the bookstore Leya no Pátio, at the cultural space Pátio de Letras, in Faro, to launch his most recent work, the book «Guardar o Fogo». The book will be presented by Maria da Conceição Andrade and Maria Fernanda Navarro.

«Poet, advertising and painter, was considered by David Mourão-Ferreira to be one of the most outstanding voices of Portuguese poetry after the 25th of April, being even considered a “renovator” in this area», according to Pátio de Letras. For some time, Joaquim Pessoa was a professor at the Dom Afonso III Institute in Loulé.

«The one hundred and four poems that make up Guardar o Fogo constitute a cohesive set, organized around the axis of literary creation. If, in previous works by Joaquim Pessoa, this theme has never ceased to be present, here, the process of poetic creativity is the core, the backbone, the body of the corpus», reads in the preface of this work.

Joaquim Pessoa's first book was published in 1975 and, to date, he has published more than twenty works, including two anthologies.
