Between June 14 and 16, Armação de Pêra hosts the XV Festival da Caldeirada. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Silves, with the collaboration of local restaurant entrepreneurs, aims to promote one of the most significant gastronomic cultural brands in this town.
In addition to its gastronomic aspect around good food, it can be said that this party is a revival of the ancestral traditions of this fishing village and the knowledge linked to the preparation of this dish, whose recipe has been passed on from parents to children, over several generations.
A Lota, Barbecue Balbino, Rocha da Palha, Barbecue O Casarão, O Fernando, O Pelintra, Casa d'Avó, O Walter, Nautical Art, Estrela do Mar, The Grill, Sunset, Seafood Almadrava, O Silvense, Snack-bar O Major, Sardinha Assada, Hera and Cantinho do Mar are the 18 restaurants participating in this 15th edition.
In addition to the increase in the number of participating establishments, another novelty in this edition is the draw for two weekends (one under the “All Inclusive” regime and the other under the “Accommodation and Breakfast” regime) in two of the hotel units in Pear frame.
Thus, all customers who join the festival and choose the fish stew as the main dish of their meal will be given a coupon which, after being filled out, must be delivered, together with the meal invoice, at the participating restaurant.
The draw will be held on June 18, at 15:00 pm, at the Parish Council of Armação de Pêra, with the winners being announced in due course on the Silves Chamber portal and Facebook.
As usual, cultural entertainment is added to the gastronomic aspect, with the performance, in the area of participating restaurants, by the Folklore and Ethnographic Group “Amigos do Montenegro” during the three days of the event, from 12:30 pm to 15:00 pm and at the end of the afternoon, between at 19:00 and 22:30.
Between the Holiday Inn and the Lota, on June 15th, at 21 pm, the Percutunes – percussion group from the parish of Tunes – will also parade.
The XV Festival of Caldeirada de Armação de Pêra also counts, as partner entities, with the Parish Council of Armação de Pêra, the Hotel Náutico Vila Galé and the Hotel Holiday Inn.
