The Socio-Sports School of the Real Madrid Foundation, currently operating in the municipalities of Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim, should extend its activities to the city of Ayamonte, in Spain, thus joining the programming of the newly constituted «Eurocity do Guadiana”, made up of the three border municipalities.
«To prepare for the expansion of the project, a team of coordinators and members of the foundation visited, this week, the three locations, highlighting the good sporting conditions, as well as the training environment already developed between teachers and students», announced the town council. realense in a press release.
At the same time, the results of the second year of operation of the Socio-Sports School of the districts of VRSA and Castro Marim were evaluated, a project that involves more than a hundred young people in football and basketball and a team of seven trainers who follow the educational principles of the Real Madrid Foundation. The school's objective is to offer leisure alternatives to children in risky situations, contributing to the development of their personality.
The foundation classes take place in the localities of Monte Gordo (football), Vila Nova de Cacela (basketball), Vila Real de Santo António (football and basketball) and Castro Marim (basketball).
According to Conceição Cabrita, councilor responsible for sports at the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, «this expansion of the school's activities is proof of the success and dynamics developed in recent months».
“For this reason, training is being prepared for coaches in the areas of basketball and football, in the months of June and October, respectively. In the portfolio is also the participation in a tournament, to be held in Hungary, in 2014», refers Conceição Cabrita.
The Socio-Sports School of the districts of VRSA and Castro Marim also seeks to encourage healthy ways of life and instills values such as solidarity and team spirit in young people identified by partner entities. “An example of this was the visit to the Estádio da Luz, held in July 2012, which marked the end of the 2011/2012 school year”, stressed the Chamber of VRSA.
In order to guarantee the integrated follow-up of young people, the work of the trainers is carried out in parallel with the head teachers, health centers and guardians, who are periodically called to know the path of their students.
The Eurocity Ayamonte – Castro Marim – Vila Real de Santo António is a project that goes beyond institutional cooperation and seeks to strengthen the existing link between the three municipalities, promoting economic, social, cultural and sporting convergence.
