The 13th Photographic Race of Portimão, scheduled for May 25, aims to promote an up-to-date and creative look at the municipality, its cultural and natural heritage, providing a meeting between photography enthusiasts and friends.

The deadline for entries in the Photographic Race, organized by the Municipality of Portimão, through the Museum of Portimão, ends on May 22, with more than two hundred participants expected from all over the country, who must opt ​​for the digital modalities (machine/card ) or underwater (open circuit equipment).

In the Photographic Race, the most important event of its kind south of the Tagus, competitors have the opportunity to discover the geographical space of the parishes of Portimão, Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande, through a renewed and updated look at aspects of their cultural and natural heritage , its people, activities and experiences, or photographically recording the underwater fauna and flora of the fluvial-maritime front of the county.

For this purpose, all participants must complete the eight surprise themes proposed and organized in phases by the Portimão Museum team, between 09:00 am and 20:00 pm, which will celebrate its fifth anniversary on the 25th of May.

As for the underwater modality, it is intended for scuba photographers, holders of open circuit equipment and respective diving certification, whose individual photographic equipment must be properly adapted or indicated for a watertight underwater use at least 20 meters (3 Atmospheres), digital DSLR or compact type.

Awards and exhibition

With regard to prizes, the first place in the digital mode will receive 300 euros, while the second best is entitled to 200 euros, the third 100 euros and the fourth 50 euros.

The digital modality will also award the Youth Prize (for competitors aged 12 to 18) in the amount of 300 euros, reverted to a course or training at ETIC_Algarve – Technical School of Image and Communication, in the area of ​​graphic design and digital image.

In the underwater modality, first and second prizes will be awarded, in the amount of 300 and 200 euros, respectively.

This year, the best photos of each theme of Modalities I and II will also be chosen and exhibited (although without the right to a monetary prize).

The winning works of the 13th Portimão Photographic Race will participate in a group exhibition, taking place at the Portimão Museum during the last quarter of this year.
