The Azinhal Continued Care Unit, in Castro Marim, will open in July and will make 30 beds available to the population, 10 of which in single rooms.

The project of the Social Welfare Association of the Parish of Azinhal (ABESFA), represents a total investment of two million and two hundred thousand euros, with 41 percent of the total investment being financed by the MODELAR Program of the Ministry of Health and the remaining 59 percent by the Chamber of Castro Marim. The project is by the architect José Alberto Alegria and the unit was built by the company Ramos & Catarino, SA, within a year.

«This equipment, which was built with users and families in mind, includes living spaces and two patios with a Mediterranean architectural influence, with three wings of rooms: 10 single rooms, 10 double rooms, one single isolation room. and a room for service personnel. The lower floor consists of a service area, namely kitchen, cafeteria, laundry, toilets and technical installations», revealed the Castro-Marinean municipality.

This project, the chamber said, is "a structuring project of a regional scope, which has excellent conditions and high quality, framed in the foundations of the National Network for Continued Care."

Here, the Social Welfare Association of the Parish of Azinhal will provide inpatient healthcare to the elderly population of the region, «with the dignity and respect that they should deserve from those who have responsibilities in social policy».
