The Algarve restaurant, which debuted on this exclusive list last year, rose eight places (from 45th to 37th), even being the only one in Portugal to be part of The World's 50 Best Restaurants.

This year, the best restaurant in the world is El Celler de Can Roca, of the Roca brothers, in Girona (Spain), who dethroned Noma, from Copenhagen (Denmark), which he commanded in the previous three years and now dropped to 2nd place. Three brothers are responsible for the Spanish restaurant: Joan, Jordi and Josep.

Osteria Francescana, by Massimo Bottura, in Modena (Italy), occupies 3rd place.

The vote is the result of an international panel formed by more than 900 figures linked to the world of restaurants and gastronomy (each voter chooses seven restaurants, three of which outside their region, and where they have eaten in the last 18 months).
