Pedro Castelo Xavier is the PSD candidate for the Portimão Chamber, but the official launch of his candidacy should only take place in May, he revealed to the Sul Informação.

Pedro Xavier, 39 years old, businessman, is president of the Municipality of the PSD of Portimão, having been re-elected to this position in August last year, after dispute with another candidate.

In statements to the Sul Informação, Pedro Xavier said that his candidacy intends to "do things with great calm and thoughtfulness", guaranteeing that there is "no hurry".

The PSD candidate also added that his official presentation should only take place in May, when “the agent and the campaign director” are chosen, among other stakeholders.

The choice of the Social-Democrats' list head to the Portimão Chamber was, in recent months, shrouded in some controversy, as initially there were several names that would have been available. A survey was even carried out, which would include the name of Pedro Castelo Xavier and other possible candidates (Carlos Martins, José Dias and João Rosado). However, the data collected will have been inconclusive, as the Sul Informação found out, none of the possible heads-of-list was evident in the preferences of the people consulted.

In Portimão, in addition to the PSD, the candidates for the Chamber chosen by the PS are also known (Isilda Gomes) and by the CDS/PP (Jose Pedro Caçorino).
