The Left Block of Portimão today demanded, in a statement, the "immediate resignation" of the entire Board of Directors of the Centro Hospitalar do Barlavento Algarvio, after the confusion generated yesterday access to the hospital and the city, due to the imposition of paid parking.

In addition to this measure, BE from Portimo considers it an "inadmissible and ridiculous situation" that the CHBA Administration has allegedly "instructed doctors not to spend more than 10 minutes with their patients", so that users do not have to pay a lot in parking. «We all know that this is impossible to comply with, as each case is different», stresses the Block in a statement signed by its municipal coordinator João Vasconcelos.

BE recalls that «the first day of paid parking at Hospital do Barlavento, in Portimão, brought ama huge confusion and total chaos in the accesses to the Hospital», adding that it was also «very dangerous, putting in danger the sick and injured with INEM vehicles and ambulances being held up in the traffic queues».

«The traffic queues reached kilometers in the directions of Cardosas and Malheiro. Many people gave up being treated at the Hospital and many employees of this hospital unit were unable to park their vehicles in the free car parks, unlike members of the Administration who have reserved spaces in the underground car park”, also stresses the Left Block of Portimão.

“All this is a scandal and a shame without limits and the responsible for this is the Board of Directors of the CHBA, which is under the orders of the PSD/CDS government”, denounce the blocistas.

The Municipal Coordinator of the Left Block of Portimão recalls that "she had already publicly denounced the parking to be paid in the Hospital's parking lot" and came "to demand the repeal of this discretionary measure, unfair and very penalizing for Hospital users, who are already heavily burdened with user fees imposed by the PSD/CDS government. There are more fees on top of more fees and users and other citizens, plunged into a serious social setback, can no longer withstand more robberies, as is the case of paying for parking at the Hospital do Barlavento».
