Today is the first day of paid parking at Hospital do Barlavento, in Portimão, a situation that, since the morning, has been generating queues and great confusion in the access to the unit and to the city itself.

According to the Sul Informação at the site, the queues reached up to two kilometers in both directions from the hospital roundabout, completely blocking the main entrance and exit in Portimão.

Either towards Malheiro or towards Cardosas roundabout, the queues forced the intervention of the PSP to regulate traffic.

Even ambulances and other emergency vehicles had, at one point, extreme difficulties in entering the hospital grounds, getting stuck in lines.

To further disturb the situation, and because some of the now conditioned car parks are only for hospital workers, the security guard at the entrance to the premises would stop all vehicles to confirm whether they were employees or not, causing even more delays in the queues.

O Sul Informação He has already asked the administration of the Centro Hospitalar do Barlavento Algarvio to comment on this situation.

The beginning of paid parking at Hospital do Barlavento, which was initially scheduled for April 1st, was later postponed to April 5th, and finally to yesterday, the 8th, ended up being held only today, the 9th.
