The League for the Protection of Nature will make known the Life-Nature Project Promotion of the Habitat of the Iberian Lynx and the Black Vulture in Southeast Portugal, for which he is responsible, at the Parish Council of São Bartolomeu de Messines, on April 5, at 18:30.

Best known for Lynx Vulture Habitat, the project intends to guarantee for «the long-term recovery and conservation of the Mediterranean landscape and its biodiversity, which includes the Iberian lynx».

LPN's idea is to pass the message on to the maximum number of inhabitants of this parish and beyond, «so that everyone has the opportunity to get to know this nature conservation project and see their doubts answered». In this way, interested parties are challenged to be present and make their contribution.

The session will be given by LIFE Habitat Lince Abutre technicians who, using audiovisual means, will make an exhibition about the project, highlighting measures aimed at the conservation of the Iberian lynx habitat – the most threatened feline in the world and a former species present in the region. The presentation will be followed by a space to clarify doubts and socialize with all those present.

The Habitat Lince Abutre project started in 2010, and has a duration of 4 years and is being implemented in the regions of Mourão, Moura and Barrancos, Vale do Guadiana and Serra do Caldeirão, in the areas of the Natura 2000 network that exist there. The overall budget is 2,6 million euros, with a 75 percent contribution from the LIFE Program of the European Union
