In 2013 and 2014, the Portimão Museum will receive at least 1500 visits from North American tourists, thanks to partnerships established with “Colette Vacations”, one of the largest tour operators in the United States of America.

The first group of tourists from “Colette Vacations” started a visit to the Museum of Portimão last week.

This partnership represents an international projection and recognition of the quality of Portimão as a cultural destination, through this museum equipment, with which visits are already scheduled for more than 1500 North American tourists in 2013 and 2014.

José Gameiro, director of the Portimão Museum, explained to Sul Informação that the partnership with the American operator came about after the vice president of Colette Vacations visited the Algarve structure, during a tour to discover areas of tourist exploration.

But the Portimão Museum has also established a partnership with the Inatel Foundation, which provides, during 2013, more than 850 visits, within the scope of cultural promotion of the country among senior citizens, through the «Tourism for all» program.

The first visit took place on February 26th. "Now we're waiting for the rest!", said José Gameiro, who added that this "partnership already existed last year and now another one is being studied, just for people over 60."

The director of the Portimão Museum stressed that these are «only two of the partnerships we have been doing with hotels, travel agencies, tour operators», to bring visitors.

In addition, he underlined, the Museum also implemented «a policy of interaction with local agents, such as taxis and rent-a-car companies», which have advantages if they bring their passengers.

Last year, the Portimão Museum received close to 40.100 visitors, 36 percent of whom were foreigners.
