The Mundialito de Futebol, which returns to Vila Real de Santo António and Ayamonte between the 24th and 30th of March, could have a financial return in the order of 2 million euros for the local economy, with the hotels in the municipality of VRSA to register occupancy levels in the order of 100 percent.

The announcement was made this Tuesday, during the press conference to present what will be the first major sporting event developed within the scope of the newly created Eurocidade Ayamonte – Vila Real de Santo António.

In 2013, Mundialito grows again and has the participation of 4.000 children from 54 nationalities and 200 teams from the four corners of the world.

During the presentation of the competition, this Tuesday, at the VRSA Sports Complex, the Mayor of Vila Real de Santo António stressed that Mundialito «is at the service of the community and the local economy and translates into the effective creation of work stations".

«The Mundialito is above all an event that has known how to strengthen itself and that explains why some of the current athletes of the Sporting and Ajax main teams have already gone through the previous editions of the tournament», noted Luís Gomes.

Also present at the press conference, the president of the Ayuntamiento [municipality] of Ayamonte, Antonio J. Rodríguez Castillo, called the competition "the future of world football" and considered it "a good example for boosting border economies."

During the competition, the two cities will be permanently linked through the river course of the Guadiana River, which, for a week, will transport hundreds of young athletes who will compete in more than 750 matches on both sides of the border.

Mundialito 2013 will register the biggest participation ever of Brazilian teams, from Rio de Janeiro to Minas Gerais, and counts, for the first time, with the presence of the team of the Real Spanish Football Federation.

At national and international level, the participation of the best football clubs in the world stands out. Benfica, Sporting, Porto, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Juventus, Milan, Ajax, Zenith, Chelsea, Arsenal, América de México and Vasco da Gama are among the confirmed names.

The matches will take place on the nine fields of the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, on the Lusitano and Beira-mar fields, and on the Cidade de Ayamonte and Blas Infante stadiums (Spain).

Mundialito 2013 is divided into four groups: in addition to the usual training (7/8 years old, 9/10 years old and 11/12 years old), it rejoins the Cherubim class, aimed at children born in 2007 (soccer de 6).

The first phase will be played in a "league" system. The second phase takes the form of a knockout, followed by a final for each of the categories.

 

Football Museum

Mundialito 2013 offers all children the possibility of getting to know the «Museu Mundialito», a 130 square meter space where nearly 3 items such as shirts and books autographed by the big names in football are on display.

In addition to the sports festival, there is the «Mundialito Center», a 2.000 square meter space where brands, sponsors and sportsmen hold a football party and offer merchandise and numerous activities for visitors.
