The Mundialito de Futebol returns to Vila Real de Santo António and Ayamonte on Sunday, the 24th, bringing to these two border cities more than 750 matches in a single week.

This, which is the world's largest children's football tournament, grew again in 2013 and has the participation of 4.000 children from 54 nationalities and 200 teams from various continents.

The kick off of Mundialito 2013 is scheduled for this Sunday, at 18:30 pm, and will be attended by the Secretary of State for Sports and Youth, Dr. Alexandre Mestre, at the opening ceremony.

At national and international level, the participation of the best football clubs in the world stands out. Benfica, Sporting, Porto, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Juventus, Milan, Ajax, Zenith, Chelsea, Arsenal, América de México and Vasco da Gama are among the confirmed names.

This meeting, in global terms, could have a financial return in the order of 2 million euros for the local economy, with the hotels of the municipality of VRSA registering occupancy rates in the order of 100 percent.

According to the Mayor of VRSA, Luís Gomes, Mundialito «is already a must-have in the Algarve's events calendar, having also been the launch pad for some of the best athletes from the main teams of Sporting and Ajax».

The general director of the tournament, Nilda Gutiérrez, underlines that Mundialito “has been able to strengthen itself, attracting more clubs and participants and increasing the competitive level”.

The seventh edition of the competition in VRSA will register the largest participation ever from Brazilian teams, from Rio de Janeiro to Minas Gerais, and counts, for the first time, with the presence of the team of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Between the 24th and 30th of March, matches will take place on the nine fields of the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, on the Lusitano and Beira-mar fields, and on the Cidade de Ayamonte and Blas Infante stadiums (Spain).

To the hundreds of games on the calendar, there is once again the «Mundialito Center», a 2.000 square meter entertainment space where brands, sponsors and sportsmen hold a football party and offer merchandise and numerous activities.

Mundialito 2013 also offers all children the possibility of getting to know the «Museu Mundialito», a 130 square meter space where nearly 3 pieces autographed by the great names of football are on display.
