Vila Real de Santo António City Council, through the municipal company VRSA – Society for Urban Management (SGU), will invest close to one million euros in the basic sanitation network in the town of Aldeia Nova (Monte Gordo), benefiting more than 250 residents.

The work will allow the end of the septic tanks that still exist, connecting them to the Manta Rota Interceptor System / Height / Monte Gordo / Vila Real de Santo António.

For the president of the Chamber Luís Gomes, "the intervention puts an end to a problem that has been dragging on for several years and responds to a just demand from the residents".

In order to minimize inconveniences, this Saturday, the municipality held a clarification session with all the residents of Aldeia Nova, where they sought to define personalized solutions for each of the houses that will benefit.

The work is expected to last for five months, without interruptions, and is expected to start within a few weeks. With this intervention, it will be possible to increase the levels of assistance in the municipality regarding the sanitation of wastewater, protecting the aquifers and improving the environmental quality of the municipality.

The work is part of a community application, included in the Thematic Operational Program for the Enhancement of the Territory (POVT), under the National Strategic Reference Framework.
