A FARO 1540 – Association for the Defense and Promotion of the Environmental and Cultural Heritage of Faro, will promote on March 22 a seminar on the theme “Tourism and Cultural Heritage”, which will take place at the CCDR-Algarve auditorium, at Praça da Liberdade, in Faro.

This NGO, through communications that will be presented by a group of experts, «will seek to foster a fruitful and objective debate, as well as inform participants in an enlightening way about the trends and matters that revolve around this theme».

To the "FARO 1540”, the enhancement of the cultural heritage of a city or region is seen as “a fundamental tool for the development of tourist activity, identity and territorial cohesion, effectively increasing its levels of attractiveness and economic competitiveness”.

However, the association stresses, «despite ample progress in this area, cultural heritage in the Algarve region has not had the desired applicability and dimension in the tourism sector, either for lack of encouraging policies or for lack of awareness and appreciation, trends that need to be changed, in favor of building a solid social and cultural base in order to form another tool that contributes to achieving the desired diversified and quality tourism».

The registration period is already open. Interested parties, to register, should go to the association's website at www.faro1540.org.
