Afonso Dias will present this Friday his CD of Originals «Fado Aleixo» at Clube Farense, in Rua de Santo António, in Faro, at 22:30 pm. This is the eighth album of originals by the artist who has long lived in the Algarve and brings António Aleixo's poems back to the world of traditional fado.

Traditional fado was an art that «the most creative and sagacious of the Algarve's poets» also explored. «Because Aleixo sang the fado. And he played Portuguese guitar», illustrates the organization of the event in a press release.

«It was António Aleixo who raised the voice of the people to the heights of a greater art and it was this art that imposed him as a superior figure in Portuguese culture», he continues, considering that this popular poet was also «perhaps the most modern and, certainly, the more socially interventionist' among their peers.

Fado Aleixo is a project that Afonso Dias nurtured for several years and that is now being carried out thanks to the support of the Regional Directorate for Culture of the Algarve, the INATEL Foundation and the municipalities of Lagoa, Loulé, Castro Verde and S. Brás de Alportel. The album is edited by the association «Bons Ofícios» and is the work of Afonso Dias ea Sopa dos Pobres.

The mentor of the Afonso Dias project is an author and singer who was part of the intervention ballad movement, he was the founder of the GAC – Cultural Action Group and «continues to sing and say poetry where it's needed».
