the airport of Faro won the Best Improvement award in the Europe Region in 2012 among all airports participating in the ASQ Survey program of the ACI – Airports Council International.

This distinction, from a European airport that recorded the greatest growth in 2012 in terms of Global Passenger Satisfaction, results from the carrying out of passenger surveys within the scope of the Airports Service Quality (ASQ) worldwide benchmarking program and rewards the continuous effort to improve quality service provided to passengers.

In 2006, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal joined this passenger satisfaction assessment study launched by the ACI, in which the airports of Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Ponta Delgada.

In 2009, Ponta Delgada Airport had already been distinguished with this award.

Second, António Correia Mendes, director of the Airport of Faro, “the recognition we have just received is a huge incentive for everyone who works at this airport. This fact is even more relevant when recognition takes place in the midst of a complex and challenging development plan. As a very seasonal airport, with more than 5,6 million passengers a year, we are aware that this recognition is not an objective in itself, but just another step in a continuous process of improvement that, through an always better service, we and our passengers we hope can keep us among the first”.

2012 results

The surveys carried out revealed that the Overall Passenger Satisfaction with the airport evolved from a rating of 3,78 in 2010 to 3,96 in 2012, on a scale of 1 to 5. 2/3
