The UEFA Development Tournament for under-16 teams, to be played at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex between 9 and 17 February, will attract dozens of scouts from all over the world and from various world emblems, taking into account the quality of the football played.

The event will take the form of a quadrangular tournament and will bring together the teams of Portugal, Holland, Scotland and Austria. It is organized by the Dutch Football Federation and has the support of the Portuguese Football Federation.

“We are certain that, for many of these athletes, this tournament will mean a passport for the big European clubs and the possibility of starting an international career in the high-end of football”, says the mayor Luís Gomes.

The men's tournament runs from the 9th to the 12th of February, while the women's tournament takes place from the 14th to the 17th of February. Among the National Team players is a young man from Vila Real de Santo António.

About the VRSA Sports Complex

The VRSA Sports Complex has been a training center accredited by the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) since 2002 and has been classified as an Olympic Preparation Center since 2004. It is also an honorary member of the Algarve Football Association.
