The Group Hospitals Particulares do Algarve (HPA) is investing in the acquisition of clinics in the region to complement its hospital network. The HPA already has two clinics in operation in Oura and Guia, both in the municipality of Albufeira, and has acquired another one in Monchique.

These health units already existed and were acquired, but the group is already preparing the construction “from scratch” of two more clinics, “in Vilamoura”. "We will also have a clinic in Lagos and another in Tavira," he announced to Sul Informação the chairman of the Board of Directors of HPA João Bacalhau.

“We are developing a group of clinics to provide a better outreach service to patients. In other words, to be closer to people and prevent people from going to hospitals when it comes to things that can be resolved close to them», he said.

The clinics are “linked to hospitals via the Internet”, something that, moreover, happens “with all the health units in the group”. “Everything that is done in any of the organization's points is in communication with the others”, he summed up. With the opening of the six clinics, the HPA achieves "regional coverage".

«In the future, we have a plan that will include a Health Hotel, to develop Health Tourism, fundamentally in the area of major psychic and mental rehabilitation», he revealed.

The HPA has already started to pave the way in this field with a "pioneering world-class" project to rehabilitate people suffering from "extreme nutrition disorders", which began about a year ago.

A valence that was opened in partnership with a Canadian group and that has given «very good results». “So far we have only had foreign patients. These are long-term, expensive treatments that have treated people from Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada”

The HPA group was born in 1996 and its first hospital unit was the Hospital Particular do Algarve, in Alvor. In 2008, the network was expanded with the opening of the Hospital de São Camilo de Portimão, which resulted from a partnership with the local Santa Casa da Misericórdia, and, in 2009, the Hospital Particular do Algarve – Gambelas, in Faro.
