The new Division of Works, Planning and Urban Management, Equipment, Environment and Urban Services of the Municipality of Alcoutim has already opened to the public.
Resulting from the reconstruction of the former building of the captain-mor's house, and later the finance and treasury building, the new facilities of the Works Division fully preserved the architecture and main characteristics of the XNUMXth century manor house, only adapting its interior. new features.
Combining heritage preservation with innovation, the building is spread over 3 floors and guarantees accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
The work cost the Municipality of Alcoutim around 340.000 euros and represents an important asset in serving citizens, who are now welcomed in a space that is technically and administratively more adequate for services.
The same building also gave rise to the new GNR headquarters in Alcoutim, inaugurated on September 14, 2012, with the presence of the Minister of Internal Administration Miguel Macedo.
The requalification of the entire building represented an investment of 639.058,12 euros, with 54% of the funding being for the Alcouteneja municipality and the remaining 46% for the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Equipment of the Ministry of Internal Administration.
