Farense was removed from the Portuguese Cup yesterday, but only after dominating Beira-Mar, in the I League for a good part of the match and in the penalty shootout lottery. In a game that ended up tied to a ball, the Algarve team made a good performance, but ended up not being able to progress to the next stage of this competition.

At the São Luís Stadium, in Faro, Farense came in and created the best scoring opportunities, but ended up being the first team to concede the goal, in Beira Mar's only goal opportunity in the first half. Nildo, after a pass from Abel Camará, put the team from Aveiro to win in the 20th minute.

The home fans didn't have to wait long to celebrate. Lourenço restored equality in the 34th minute.

During the rest of regular time, Farense was always more dangerous, but the result did not change. Also in extra time, everything was the same, in terms of the result, with the difference that in the complementary stage, Beira-Mar showed other arguments and took the reins of the game.

In penalties, the Beira-Mar goalkeeper Rui Rego stood out, defending a penalty scored by Diop. Thus ended the dream of Farense, currently in the II Division B, to remain in the Cup of Portugal.
