The non-use of the Ria Solidária ambulance boat for almost two years «is an example of contempt for people's lives, destruction of public goods (the boat cost 120 thousand euros) and of the lowest impudence of public agents», accused this week the municipal movement with Faro in the Heart, in a statement.

The vessel, purchased to serve the populations of the Ria Formosa barrier islands, has been idle since the beginning of 2011 for repairs. In April 2011, the president of the Chamber of Faro Macário Correia pointed out June of that year as the expected date to unblock the situation.

"Now, after more than a year, the boat is still stopped and the local authority, with total shamelessness, went public yesterday trying to shake off the responsibilities to others, lamenting that the blame would be on some bureaucrats", said the CFC.

«If in June 2011 the local authority said that at the end of that month the boat would return to sea, everything had to be resolved. If this did not happen, there will only be two hypotheses: what was said was to deceive the population, or due to incompetence. From the experience of many other cases, the CFC concludes that it was a mixture of manipulation and irresponsibility," said the movement.
