The company Flesk Telecom, owner of the Domains.PT brand, will launch the Backup.PT project and offer its customers the possibility to subscribe, first-hand and free of charge, to a Remote Backup service with 5 GB of available space. The Algarve company intends to launch the Backup.PT service in a commercial way soon.
The Remote Backup service allows you to make a backup copy of the information that is kept on the computer and which is extremely important for business, namely with regard to emails, images or documents.
This backup copy is made via the internet and stored on a secure server installed on the Domains.PT Datacenter , situated in Faro, allowing customers to automatically restore information whenever necessary.
Bruno Carlos, general director of Flesk Telecom, explained to Sul Informação that “computer data are increasingly important for companies and for all professionals who use computers and the Internet in their businesses and projects”.
"The information you have stored on your computer is extremely important, so it is essential to ensure that there is an up-to-date copy, so as not to run the risk of irreversibly losing vital information about your company," added the Algarve businessman.
Bruno Carlos added that the Backup.pt commercial service should have different usage levels, between 50/100 GB and up to 2 Teras.
The configuration of the new service will be done easily, with the user – or the network manager – defining the frequency and type of backup to be carried out.
The software works on PC and Mac and the data is encrypted before transmission, the keys being known only to the user.
Bruno Carlos also revealed that, with regard to prices, there will be «very aggressive and very low prices», compared to prices charged by competitors, such as Google's Drive service and Portugal Telecom's SmartCloud.
Prices that may be important, all the more so as Flesk Telecom wants to launch this service at an international level as well.
For now, and while the commercial version of the service is not available, Flesk Telecom customers can click here and sign up for a free Remote Backup account with 5GB. Or they can access their customer account at https://www.dominios.pt/admin and click on the Backup tab.
In May 2011 Flesk inaugurated a new datacenter at the Areal Gordo multipurpose park, in Faro.
The new Datacenter was built from scratch with the best and most recent technology, in order to minimize the possibility of failures and exponentially increase the quality of services provided to all Flesk customers.
