The world premiere of the band Orient 7Sóis, a new original artistic creation of the Sete Sóis Sete Luas Festival, led by Rão Kyao and with artists from Croatia, France, Greece, Portugal and Romania, will take place on September 16, at the Municipal Amphitheater of Castro Verde.

This premiere marks the end of the 20th Mediterranean Plain Festival, which begins on the 14th, in this village in Baixo Alentejo.

The Festival Planície Mediterrânica is promoted by the local Chamber, in partnership with the associations Sete Sóis Sete Luas and PédeXumbo, to celebrate the tradition and Mediterranean identity of Castro Verde, through the arts, flavors and way of being of Alentejo and exchanges with other Mediterranean cultures.

In addition to concerts, dances and street theatre, the festival, which features a Mediterranean café, restaurant and terrace and a book fair, includes workshops on dances and percussion instruments, exhibitions, artistic residencies and Alentejo singing.

On the 14th, the program includes a concert by the Campaniça Trio group and a show by “7Luas.Orkestra.20°”, a project created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sete Sóis Sete Luas Festival.

On Saturday, the 15th, at 16 pm, the Portuguese singer, accordionist and concertist Celina da Piedade will make the pre-presentation of her first album, in a concert scheduled for the Cineteatro Municipal.

At 21 pm, again at the Municipal Amphitheater, it will be the turn of the Spanish show La Banda Del Pepo.

From 23:00, the show comes to the street, with the performances «Incêndio!» and «Dino2» by the Spanish theater company L`avalot.

The same company will surprise again on Sunday, the 16th, at 19 pm, with the show «Tikiterium», which will take six “tikis” (giant puppets) in a parade through the festival space and accompanied by music.

 

Prom concerts late into the night

The Festival also includes dance concerts, at Tenda Largo do Padrão. So, on the 14th, at 23 pm, the music for the ball will be in charge of the Portuguese «Monte Lunai», who combine violin, double bass, percussion guitar and even clarinet, bagpipes and didgeridoo.

On the 15th, at 23:30 pm, it will be the turn of Madrid's «Martina quiere bailar», an acoustic quintet with two violins, a diatonic accordion, guitar and percussion.

Late at night, at 1:30 am, it will be the turn of the FolkyTrad party, with the Portuguese DJ Mati@s.

On Sunday 16, at 16:30 pm, at the end of the dances, it will be the turn of the music to be in charge of Duo SeSam, formed by the Galician Sérgio Cobos and the Portuguese Samuel Santos.

 

Painting and photography show themselves

But the Festival Planície Mediterrânica, in Castro Verde, also includes exhibitions. Thus, «Syria: three gazes», with photographs by Santiago Macias, Pedro Barros and Rui Tremoceiro, «L`Homme dans tous ses états», by the Moroccan painter M. Bouzoubaa, «Return to Origins», by the French plastic artist Moss, «L`Acte Fotographique – le dialogue», by the Greek photographer Konstantinos Ignatiadis, «A Preto e Cal», an installation by Vanda Palma, the «Collective of Painting and Sculpture», are the exhibitions that can be seen over the three days .
