The daily stop “Há sardinha no Cais” at 18:45 pm and the closing show “assaRdinhas no ar” at midnight, both by the artists of Chapitô, are two of the novelties of the 18th edition of the Sardine Festival, which opens on Friday, August 3rd.

The stop “Há sardines no Cais” promises a journey through time, where the siren whistle of the former Feu factory is the starting point for this historic reconstitution. The stop leaves the Museum of Portimão (18:45) and continues along the riverside of Portimão until the entrance to the Festival da Sardine.

This theater company will present many surprises, also for the daily closing show “assaRdinhas no ar”, at 00:00. Light, sound and fantasy with amazing performances.

The Festival, which this time takes place between bridges, next to the railway bridge, debuts this year a new image, conveying Portimão's connection to sardines and its affinity with the city's experiences, through the arches of the railway bridge, the blue of the sea and a vintage line: “sardines have always been present on the bridge, all that is needed is to reinvent a deeper look”.

The Portimão Railway Bridge was built in 1915 and opened for service, along with the section between the Ferragudo-Parchal Stop and Lagos, on July 30, 1922 – these are 90 years of good service to the local community that this year will be remembered through of the new festival image.
