The Brazilian family, consisting of the mother and her children who died this morning in a villa in Quinta do Sobral, between São Bartolomeu and Castro Marim, was the victim of smoke inhalation and not an explosion, said the commander of the Vila Real de Santo António Fire Brigade .

According to Paulo Simões, the fumes caused by the fire that affected only one room with two beds ended up victimizing the mother and children. "Only the room burned, nothing more," he assured in statements to Antena1. THE Explosão, he added, was "originated from an outbreak of fire in a dwelling."

The victims are a woman of Brazilian nationality, who was a dentist in Vila Real de Santo António, and her two children, aged 6 and 14 years.

The alert was given at 9:58 am by a neighbor who called 112, warning of the explosion and of smoke coming out of the house. The firefighters were immediately called and even had to put out the flames, later finding the bodies of the three victims lying on the floor of the room.

The Judiciary Police and the GNR are also at the site, as well as a psychological support team from INEM and members of the Chamber of Castro Marim.
