This Sunday, Sporting beat the English team of Sheffield Wednesday, by 2-0, and won the Albufeira Summer Cup, in a game attended by more than three thousand people, played at the Albufeira Municipal Stadium.
Sá Pinto's team needed just 11 minutes to put themselves in front of the scoreboard in a move accomplished by André Martins, after a play between Diego Capel and Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.
Faced with an opponent who rarely created danger in the leonine goal, Sporting ended up extending their advantage in the 69th minute by van Wolfswinkel, following a play between Capel and Pranjic.
This was another edition of the Albufeira Summer Cup that, in the last seven years, has brought to Albufeira some of the most prestigious national and foreign teams,
with emphasis on the passage of the three great Portuguese clubs - Sporting CP, SL Benfica and FC Porto.
