The mayor of Faro asked the Attorney General of the Republic to inform whether the "accusatory public statements" of a representative of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Loulé on ongoing processes are "part of the ethics of function" and have "superior agreement or not" .

In a letter sent to the PGR Pinto Monteiro, and which was disclosed to the newspapers, Macário Correia explains that «this clarification that is being requested is fundamental for us, to know if this is an isolated and ethically reprehensible case for revealing a breach of exemption and of impartiality in the exercise of functions'.

the mayor of Faro, already in the crosshairs of justice because of the sentence to loss of mandate decided by the Supreme Administrative Court due to non-compliance by PDM and Protal when he was mayor of Tavira, decision that appealed, now reacts to the article in the Diário de Notícias, which reveals alleged urban illegalities committed in the Faro Chamber.

«By reading the newspapers of yesterday and today, it appears that a representative of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Loulé issues different opinions, taking sides on ongoing processes in public statements, without, in some cases, the targeted have even pronounced themselves», begins by saying Macário Correia, in the letter.

The mayor admits that «with respect to some designated joint studies, the Municipality of Faro was asked to provide information'. However, he stresses, although the Court has not yet received this information, even because "the deadline is in progress", "the Public Ministry is already taking sides and issuing opinions to the media".

Furthermore, "on other processes, it appears that the Public Prosecutor's Office makes public accusatory statements to the defendants, in addition to revealing other intentions, in matters that are not even included in the processes in progress".

According to Diário de Notícias, the Public Ministry considers that Macário Correia has resorted to "group studies", an instrument of urban management to circumvent rules defined by the Municipal Master Plan and calls for the cancellation of the six studies that were approved under these conditions.

In the administrative process that Diário de Notícias had access to, it is clear that the Public Prosecutor's Office wants the PDM rules that allow these studies to be carried out in place of the master plan, urbanization plans or detailed plans to be declared illegal.

All because it understands that these standards cannot be compared to the PDM, nor allow it to be contradicted, for example with regard to the size of buildings.
