Monchique will devote three days to potatoes and lemons. From June 29th to July 1st, the XNUMXst Potato and Lemon Fair takes place at Largo dos Chorões, two products considered pillars of the agricultural economy of that municipality.

Every year, around 600 tons of potatoes and between 800 and 1000 tons of lemons are produced in Monchique, products that will be sold at the fair packaged and with an indication of origin.

In addition to potato and lemon producers, the confectionery, liqueurs and handicraft sectors will also be present at this fair, presenting products inspired by those who will be the “kings” of the weekend.

The county's restaurants also participate in the I Monchique Potato and Lemon Fair with a gastronomic exhibition alluding to the event.

To liven up the fair, a musical show with Lena D'Água is scheduled for Sunday, at 16 pm, with Adriana Marques also performing beforehand. On Saturday, the music is in charge of some artists from the municipality.

Within the scope of this I Monchique Potato and Lemon Fair, a meeting between the commercial agents of the horticultural sector of the Algarve and the agricultural producers of Monchique is also planned, in the form of a colloquium to take place on Saturday, June 30th, from 10:00 am, at Caixa Agrícola facilities.

A promotional leaflet of the two products will also be distributed to all participants at this fair, based on the health benefits resulting from their consumption.

On Friday, June 29, at 11:00 am, a book will also be presented that compiles gastronomic recipes based on potatoes and lemon from Monchique.

The Potato and Lemon Fair is jointly promoted by the Municipality of Monchique and by CITRIGARBE-Association of Citrus Growers of the Municipality of Monchique.
