Portimonense was in last place in the Liga Orangina, but the club's directors still haven't lost hope in maintaining the club in the professional championships. Fernando Rocha, president of Portimonense, assumes that he does not believe in miracles, but has doubts that all clubs effectively meet the requirements for registration in the League.

União de Leiria saw its relegation from the professional championships confirmed, and Sp. Covilhã – second from the bottom of the Liga Orangina – took the spot. Portimonense is the next team, in case any other club fails to meet the requirements for registration in the League of Clubs (payment of wages and debts to the tax authorities and social security).

Fernando Rocha, speaking to the Sul Informação, doubts that the clubs' debts have disappeared in fifteen days, but assumes that Portimonense, at this time, is in the II Division.

«I still believe in permanence, but it is true that miracles only happen in Fátima and, at this moment, we are in the II Division. However, there are clubs that fifteen days ago had six months of wages in arrears and I don't know how to pay that amount within that period, in addition to the debts to Social Security, to complete the enrollment in the League of Clubs».

As soon as Portimonense saw the relegation of the division confirmed, it constituted a lawyer to analyze the registration processes of the teams with the League, so that the team from Alvinegra would not be harmed by the relegation of the division, in benefit of non-compliant clubs.

Fernando Rocha said that, this year, the registration process "is being more rigorous", but still criticizes the way in which the payment of wages to players is evaluated. "The players are signing documents saying that they received their wages in arrears, but the proof should be made with proof of deposit in the bank account", he defends.

Despite assuming itself as a compliant club, Portimonense is also experiencing difficulties, with an extraordinary general meeting scheduled for June 28 to discuss the future of the club with its members.

"We will present the status of the members, who have the right to know the state of the club, at a time when it is known that the financial life of the teams is not easy, there is little support, no one helps the clubs in this phase of crisis" , says Fernando Rocha.

The direction of Portimonense saw approved at a general meeting held on December 13 last year, the possibility of moving towards the constitution of a SAD, a scenario that ceases to arise with the eventual descent of the club to the II Division.
