BMX: Dário Piedade joins Cup to Championship

Dário Piedade (BMX Team Asas da Cidade) won the Liberty Seguros Portugal Cup this weekend, on the Quarteira track.

Dário Piedade (Team BMX Asas da Cidade) won this weekend, at the Quarteira track, the Portugal Liberty Seguros BMX Cup in the elite category, a title he added to that of National Champion, which he had achieved last month.

The Algarve rider, who has dominated the national BMX in recent years, arrived in Quarteira in charge of the overall Cup and cemented the main position, beating all the competition in the last scoring race for the trophy.

Carlos Rosado (Clube Bicross de Portimão) was second and got the same place in the Cup. The third overall was André Martins (Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal/Bestcofra), although in this weekend's stage he did not go beyond fourth position.

Jaime Airosa (Setúbal/Bestcofra Bicross Nucleus) won the Cup in juniors, but he didn't get rid of a scare. Miguel Domingos (Team BMX Asas da Cidade) was the best in Quarteira and completed the trophy scores just one point behind Airosa. Fábio Ferreira (Team BXM Asas da Cidade) won the Algarvian competition, sealing the victory in the Cadet Cup in the best possible way.

Veteran Bruno Berto and cruiser Ivo Pires (Team BMX Wings da Cidade) took advantage of this weekend's race to add another partial victory to the conquest of the Cup.

André Duarte (Clube Bicross de Portimão) closed the juvenile general at the front, but was overthrown in Quarteira by Miguel Silvestre (Team BMX Asas da Cidade).

In the other age categories, the winners of the Liberty Seguros Portugal Cup were also the strongest in Quarteira. It happened with the child Dmytro Drapalyuk (Clube Bicross de Portimão), with the initiate André Ribeiro and with the Benjamin Daniel Matos (Clube Bicross de Portimão).

The dispute for the Portuguese Cup by teams was kept going until the end. Clube Bicross de Portimão took the scepter, but witnessed a dangerous approach of the pilots of Team BMX Asas da Cidade, who were only three points away.

The consecration of the winners and the attempt to remake the losers took place this Sunday morning, also in Quarteira, with the BMX Open.

Dário Piedade kept the winning tune, imposing himself in the main race, the supercross. Vinícius Ferreira (Team BMX Asas da Cidade) won the Open 3 race, André Duarte was the most outstanding in Open 2 and Daniel Matos was the dominator in Open 1.
