An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale made the Algarve tremble this afternoon. The shock, with its epicenter 10km north-northwest of São Brás de Alportel, was felt in several points of the Algarve region as Faro, Olhão, Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António, according to reports from residents on social networks.

According to the Meteorology Institute, the earthquake was registered at the stations of the Mainland Seismic Network at 15:16.

District Relief Operations Command source told the Sul Informação that there is no record of occurrences in the Algarve related to this earthquake.

The IM adds that this earthquake, according to the information available so far, has not caused personal or material damage and was felt with maximum intensity IV (modified Mercalli scale) in the region of Olhão. It was also felt with less intensity throughout the Eastern Algarve.
