Opportunities to invest in Portugal come to Scandinavian businessmen, in a strategic action to take place at the Portuguese embassy in Oslo, on 24 May, with the participation of Entreposto Gestão Imobiliário (EGI) and Invest Lisboa.

Evidencing the role of real estate as a driving force for the sustained development of the economy is one of the goals to be achieved in Oslo.

Representing the Algarve region will be the Lux Tavira Residence, a development located in Luz de Tavira and comprising 48 villas and 12 apartments, which since 2010, the year of its completion, has captured the interest of English, Belgian, Spanish and Scandinavians. Among the reasons for this search is its proximity to the Ria Formosa natural park, 12 km of almost unexplored beaches and 6 golf courses. It is also less than 25 minutes from the airport of Faro.

The Convento das Bernardas located in the city of Tavira will also be presented. This convent of the Order of Cister was founded in 1509 and was recently rehabilitated for housing purposes by the architect Souto Moura, Pritzker Prize 2011. Last week the development received the 2011 best rehabilitation award under the real estate Oscars.

According to Duarte Guerreiro, general director of Entreposto Imobiliário, “there is an important community of Norwegians, with high purchasing power, residing or with second homes in the Tavira area, being a highly sought after destination as it is still little explored and with enormous potential in terms of natural beauty.”

Invest Lisboa, an investment promotion and attraction agency, a project of the Lisbon City Council and ACL / Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which has the support of AICEP, participates in the action to promote the installation of new companies in Lisbon . “The availability of specialized human resources and high quality infrastructure and offices at very competitive costs, as well as the possibility for Norwegian companies to use Lisbon as a platform for emerging Portuguese-speaking markets will be some of the arguments to be used”, stresses Rui Coelho, executive director of Invest Lisboa.

The Oslo event has the special participation of ambassador João de Lima Pimentel.

The initiative entitled “Innovate in Portugal” is organized by PSO – Comunicação Estratégica, an agency based in Lisbon, whose main objective is to involve international investors in a favorable business environment for Portugal and to promote the best of Portuguese real estate in markets such as Oslo , Brussels and Macau (actions to be carried out in May and June).
