The museographic project of the Exhibition Center of the Fortaleza de Sagres will be publicly presented on Wednesday, May 2, at 17:30 pm, in the auditorium of that national monument.

The presentation, within the scope of the «Requalification and Enhancement of the Sagres Promontory» project, will be attended by the Secretary of State for Culture Francisco José Viegas, the regional director of Culture Dália Paulo, and the presidents of the Vila do Bispo Chamber and the Regional Coordination and Development Committee, Adelino Soares and David Santos, respectively.

The Sagres Fortress Exhibition Center culminates the investment that has been made in this one of the most visited national monuments, in a joint intervention started in 2009, by the then Ministries of Economy and Culture, and financed by QREN, through the PO Algarve 21.

The first phase should end at the end of this year, as revealed by Dália Paulo, during a roundtable within the scope of the IDP-Algarve Forum, which took place over the weekend in Albufeira.

This first phase included 23 actions, namely the restoration of the walls and their scenic lighting (contract that should end precisely today, Monday), the exterior arrangement of the entire promontory, which includes improving accessibility, visitor safety, installation information on fauna and flora.

About the contents of the Exhibition Center – which on Wednesday will be presented in detail by archaeologist Rui Parreira and by the team from the company P06 -, Dália Paulo explained that the main objective is “to explain and make visitors understand the importance of the Discoveries”. Basically, he said, "we are going to do what has long been expected to exist in Sagres."

The regional director of Culture also added that the scientific guide for the Exhibition Center was drawn up by a team, while "a company is working on the museographic project". That will be what will be presented on Wednesday, with the presence of Secretary of State Francisco José Viegas.
