The book “Algarve – 12 poets in the South of the 2st Century” will be presented on Wednesday, May 18nd, at XNUMX pm, at the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library, in Tavira. The presentation will be in charge of Dália Paulo and Vítor Cardeira, followed by a reading of poems by Gisela Ramos Rosa.

This work, carried out by Fernando Esteves Pinto and Tiago Nené, is an anthology that includes twelve voices that are very different from current poetry.

The title could not be different: Twelve Poets a South, as it is not, as the reader can easily see, a meeting of poets “from the south”.

More fair and rigorous becomes the edition of twelve poets who, despite not all having the same region by birth — the Algarve — somehow represent the place from which some of the most important Portuguese poets of the XNUMXth century originate.

Present in this book are António Ramos Rosa, Casimiro de Brito, Fernando Esteves Pinto, Gastão Cruz, José Carlos Barros, Manuel Madeira, Miguel Godinho, Nuno Júdice, Pedro Afonso, Rui Dias Simão, Tiago Nené, Vítor Gil Cardeira.

In addition to ten poems per author and their biography, the book also includes a critical essay on each poet, written by another poet.
